Mangaluru, Jul 31: A fun-filled workshop was held at Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) for children by author Ken Spillman on his books ‘Clumsy’ and ‘Advaita the Writer’ in two sessions on Sunday July 31.

In the first session, the author addressed kids aged 5 to 9 on his book 'Clumsy'. He was given a ‘hug welcome’ by the young kids.

Emphasizing on the importance of imagination, Spillman said, “Story books are the best way to exercise your imagination.”

He said that the book was based on a little girl’s life who was always called names and her feelings about it. The copies were distributed to the kids and they all read parts of the book together with him.

The second session was oriented towards children above 10 years old.

Spillman spoke to them about the magic of language. He said that books help people understand the world better and present a bigger picture about it.

Speaking about ‘Advaita the Writer’, he said, “I wrote the book based on my personal experiences. It was the first book that I wrote which had Indian characters and setting. The book is in the recommended reading list compiled by CBSE.”

Children actively participated in both the sessions. Spillman autographed the books for kids on the occasion.

Ken Spillman is an Australian writer who has authored 60 books. Out of these, more than 40 books are for children. He has also written books for teenagers. His most popular work is ‘The Jake Series’.
