Car hits transformer at Kadandale, providential escape for four

Mangaluru, Jul 31: A speeding car hit an electric transformer at Golidadi in Kadandale near Moodbidri on Sunday, July 31 evening and the four occupants of the car had a miraculous escape.

The i 10 car coming from Sachirepete towards Moodbidri with high speed crossed the trench besides the road and then hit the electric transformer. Transformer and car both have been severely damaged. The four passengers in the car sustained only minor injuries.

Mescom officer from Belman Pradeep Kumar and Dakshina Kannada panchayat member Sucharitha Shetty visited the spot and inspected.

Gunapal, a temporary worker of Mescom, came to the place and switched off the electric connection immediately though he is yet to be made permanent worker. This was appreciated by the locals. Another Mescom staff Praveen D’Souza helped in clearing the transformer from the road so that vehicular movement could resume.

    what?Transformer was on his way ?why did the electricity didnt think it?Certainly he had some percent intus before starting car,otherwise to cause such a mpact to putdown the transformer is not a easy Task.Did anyone check his blood for alcohol precentage?or drugs?These are the main causes by Youngsters nowadays.Thank God noone got seriouslyinjured.

    This is purely a case of rash and reckless driving. It is providential that the lives of the occupants of the car are saved.

    Proper investigations will reveal the actual cause of the accident.

    This accident is due to over speeding and careless driving by the driver. Is he going to pay for the damage of the transformer or the insurance company will pay?. In many countries driver has to pay for the transformer.. Just for knocking lamp post,driver has to pay about rs.2 lakhs.

    Golidi road and surroundings not good for speed Car owner should not have increased the speed .Road is not very wide.Villagers are ultimately affected.
