About 10,000 Indians stranded in Saudi to be evacuated: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Aug 01, PTI:  About 10,000 Indians stranded in Saudi Arabia will be evacuated and no one will go hungry as ration has been distributed to them, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in Parliament today.

Her deputy V K Singh is leaving for Saudi Arabia to oversee the evacuation process, she said in a statement in both Houses of Parliament.

As members in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha expressed concern over the fate of these Indians, Swaraj made the statement informing them that the Indian embassy was running five camps to feed them and she had received hourly inputs till early today.

"Not one worker of ours will go hungry. This is my assurance to the country through Parliament... We will bring all of them back to India," Swaraj said.

The government, she said, was in touch with the foreign and labour offices in Saudi Arabia to ensure their early evacuation.

Swaraj noted that the law there does not permit an emergency exit visa without no objection certificate from the employers who, she said, have shut their factories and left the country, leaving these employees stranded.

The government has requested the Saudi government to give them exit visas as employers had left the country and also urged it to first clear the dues of workers who have not been paid for months, whenever they settle the accounts with the companies concerned.

Singh is leaving for Saudi Arabia to oversee the operation, she said.

She recieved the last report at 2.45 AM, she said and informed the Lok Sabha that ration for 10 days had been distributed in all the five camps. "I am personally monitoring the situation."

As some opposition members in Lok Sabha raised some questions, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed them, saying "She (Swaraj) has done everything. She has done really good work. Nobody has worked this much."

Swaraj's response also drew praise from the Chair and members in the Rajya Sabha.
Swaraj made the statement in the Lower House amid the din created by Andhra Pradesh MPs, who were demanding special category status for the state.

Senior BJP member L K Advani, who was sitting next to Swaraj, was seen requesting Andhra members with folded hands to allow her to speak.

Dear all Saudi Arabian Indian expatriates,

Rejoice yourselves as the Chaaiwaala Prime Minister of India knows how hard it is to earn money because he himself ran behind the running trains by selling Chaai without tendering exact change of money.

    FEAR NOT.
    COME TO INDIA.
    YOUR ACCHHE DHIN.
DAAL COSTLY, BEEF COSTLY HARDLY AVAILABLE.
VEGETABLES COSTLY, TOMATOES COSTLY, MEAT COSTLY.
AND ALMOST ALL COMMODITIES ARE COSTLY UNABLE TO REACH.

YET YOU WILL NOT BE IN HUNGRY FOR FOOD That is the reason during the elections bjp’s have promised collectively Jumla 15-20 Lakhs to all the citizens of India.

Hence no worries your 15 Lakhs will be distributed by the Indian Prime Minister himself along with Sushma Swaraj to all the evacuees upon landing.

The promises are promises as they have promised and promises are to be fulfilled.

Madam Sushmaji appreciate you efforts in evacuating the stranded poor Indians from Saudi Arabia. One request is to make sure that the proper contract with minimum wage is set and then the Indian Govt. should allow the people to fly to Gulf countries to work.

@Jamal.. there are proper system in place and minimum wages allocated for lower category recruitment. I have seen that our own people agree with companies to make agreement for minimum wages and its only for documentation and hire their know ones of people with less wages.
How can Govt do anything on these..But appreciate BJP govt for their efforts and not see such shift actions by previous govts.

    Mr.Joseph...
Here money is not counted..when holed-up in difficulty stage in other land. If it is in our country thing is totally different. Do you know now-a-days what temperature it is may be around 45 to 50 degree. When people do not have sponsor who ran away than it is much much difficult period and even those government itself cannot help. A single person cannot send without having documents. For that even Indian Embassy failed to intervene. After approaching external ministry itself now..things started to move. It's due to good relations developed by modiji during his recent visit..and honoured that government with prestigious top award. It shows how our relationship developed recently from last two years. All over the world now indians are recognised much better than before. It's what advantage happened with touring by modiji to different destinations.

While announcement by government..how many family members are happy now. They don't go for money. Only need there family members back..in healthy condition. Here religion never matters.. when comes the matter of nation. We should feel proud at this moment. Government always stand in forefront at such moment.
