Mangaluru, Aug 1: Dr K G Jagadish took charge as new deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district on Monday, august 1.

Dr KG Jagadish addressed media at his office after taking charge."There should be cooperation between media and administration to do the good work for the society." he said.

Saying that he had visited Mangaluru city twice, once during his college days as a tourist and then as managing director of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited for review meeting with minister, he continued “I am working in coastal district for the first time. Mangaluru city has good infrastructure. It is a developed and advanced city with educated people. But it has many its own challenges. I will study the district in all aspects but it will take some times. People and representatives should join the hands for good administration."

When media raised that even former DC AB Ibrahim could not bring a policy on sand mining and himself expressed his displeasure on that while leaving city, Jagadish said " I will be meeting former DC AB Ibrahim later. So I will discuss with him about various issues in the district. I need to make a study on such issues and then I can work and comment on that. Proper action will be taken within two weeks."

When told that there is no proper footpaths, parking and drainage facilities in city and even MCC has not shown proper response to this, he said "Though the city is developing, there should farsighted vision on the future. I will discuss this issue with MCC commissioner, district in-charge minister, MLAs and the corporators. Immediate change is not possible. But long time planning over a period of time can solve the problems."

When asked to provide bus pass facilities within city as the BMTC in Bengaluru is providing both in private as well as in government buses, he said that he will look into the matter.

On land acquisition of nearly 1000 acres by MRPL and farmers problems as a consequence, he said "There should be development. And along with development, there should be the social equality. Problems should be sorted out with least consequences. I will discuss this issue with officers."

ADC Kumar was also present on this occasion.

I appreciate Dr K G Jagadish the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district who takes lot of interest in the care of Orphan and Vulnerable Children.

When the Government is not able to care for such children in a dignified manner, those institutions who support should be supported in all the possible ways by the officials.

Thanks Sir for your encouraging words...
