Mangaluru: 13 more SRS activists arrested for St Thomas School raid

Mangaluru, Aug 1: Police from Mangaluru rural police station on Monday 1, arrested 13 persons relating to the raid of St Thomas Aided Higher Primary School at Padu Bandanthila near here.

The raid was carried out on July 30 by nearly 60 Sri Rama Sene (SRS) activists with the allegation that Urdu and Arabic were 'forcibly' taught to students in the school. The activists had taken the school management to task and created trouble.

The arrested persons are Sunil, Nitin, Rajesh, Raghavendra, Ravi, Nitin Shetty, Kishore Sanil, Chethan, Ravindra, Mukesh, Prakash, Jayantha, and Chandrahasa.
Nitin, Santosh and Dinesh were arrested on Sunday. All the 16 arrested so far have been produced in court, police said.

Police sub-inspectors Sudhakar and Venkatesh were in charge of arrest operation which was carried out with the help of other police personnel from Mangaluru rural police station.

    Seriously Rama sene thought a christian school taught Arabic forcefully?? If they wanted to forcefully to teach something then it would be latin. Arabic is the last language they would likely to forcefully teach.

    I reiterate, nothing wrong in teaching Arabic or French.
    But when a catholic institution does this, without including Sanskrit, it sends a wrong message. Received so by SRS.
    The headmaster should have given a serious thought on teaching Arabic to Hindu students as a option, but no option to learn Sanskrit.
    I studied in a Church managed school where I had an opportunity to study Sanskrit and Arabic. Arabic was taught to Hindu students after school hours coz the regular classes clashed with Sanskrit classes.

    The base i got in Arabic and Sanskrit, later made me to study both proficiently.

    Sanskrit is mother of all languages.
    Tamil and Kannada languages derived from Tulu. It already endorsed by tamilian chief minister Shri Annadurai in parliament.
    Malalyam script adopted from Tulu.
    Endorsed by Kerala Minister Karunakaran.
    Moreover...Hinduism is mother of religions. People who claim they themselves totally different..is saying absured..for there satisfaction.
    God showered everything at one place only...i.e. in Indian Continent.
    Slowly it's comes to the knowledge of everybody.
    That's the reason everything starts from India...and end with India. Other's all temporary in between. May be they claim anything..all proved null and void.
    Please here after encourage our local languages and introduce to the world. No need excuses..it won't give jobs.

    sanskrit is invaders language ,they invaded india more than 5000 years ago.today english is most important language in world.hindiuism is not mother of all religion,according to supreme court judgement ,hinduism is not religion it is culture..god showered all things to india but invaders robbed allthings from us 5000 years ago,our local language tulu,kannada,tamil malayala telugu, richer than invaders language

    Can somebody tell what is the purpose teaching local Hindu girls this foreign language Arabic? What is the hidden agenda?

    Children at the age of 12-13 find it very difficult to learn 3 languages Kannada Hindi and English. School management is making children life more miserable. Shame on them.

    If they are much interested let them introduce all local languages.

    Why arrest. Just encounter such criminals.who has given them a authority to enter and raid a school. If they have issue they should complain to police to look into a issue.this is called Isis or taliban type of terrorism has to be stopped in a democratic secular india. Arabic or urdu is good to learn so that if islamic terrors enter india and only talks in those languages it is good for the citizens to understand thier language or motives. Additional language always makes good to go. We are all tired of terrorsit all over the world. Please donot produce more from our great india where hindus are loved and peacefull people by everyone

    Don't you know that half of the population in the Middle East Muslim/Arab countries jobs are occupied by Indians who feed their family back home. These is no bar on religion basis and most of them are Hindus only. Have little concern at least for their language.
