Mangaluru: Mechanized boats take to sea after gap of two months

Mangaluru, Aug 2: After a gap of two months, mechanized boats entered the sea on Monday August 1. At the end of the holiday period, they bowed before the sea before setting their fishing boats on sail.

There are about 1,050 trawl boats in the city while about 75 are purse seine boats. Almost all the boats resumed fishing activity on Monday. A few of the boat owners, who believed that Monday and Tuesday are not auspicious because of new moon day, plan to begin fishing from Wednesday onwards.

Fishing holiday had been declared from midnight of May 31 to midnight of July 31 as this happened to be the fish breeding season.

    Let us all hope that the fishermen who go to see may be safe as the weather still continues to be bad. Catch of fish is secondary whereas lives are precious.

    Let us hope that we wlll get atleast some fish now onwards. After mechanised boats go the price of fish will also come down as at present it costs exhorbitant.

    If we inform westerners can they believe are having breeding period.
    24 months they will go on fishing.
    For each and everything there is reason behind..in India.
    We believe in yugas..and not years..as some people jumped into wagon and prove themselves knows all.
