Beltangady, Aug 3: A Bajrang Dal leader and a few gang members have been accused launching murderous assault on a youth and then robbing him of gold chain and ring. The incident occurred at Dharmasthala on the evening of Tuesday August 2 evening.
Chandrakanth (31), a resident of Dharmasthala, was the one who came under the attack of the gang. He has been admitted into the taluk government hospital here for treatment of injuries.
It is said that Chandrakanth was engaged in a volleyball game with others near downtown Dharmasthala on Tuesday evening, when a gang having about ten members including Bhaskar came there, duly equipped with lethal weapons. The gang attacked Chandrakanth and robbed him of his golden chain and finger ring, the complainant said.
It is said that the attack was the result of some past enmity. Dharmasthala police, who have registered the case, have begun investigating the case.
