Bengaluru, Aug 3: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, grieving over the untimely death of his 39-year-old elder son Rakesh, got back to work to discharge his official duties on Wednesday and has decided to convene an all party meeting on August 7, Sunday, to decide Karnataka’s future course of action over getting 7.56 tmcft of water from the Mahadayi river for the Kalasa-Banduri Nala drinking water project.

The meeting would discuss various options before the State Government following the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal’s rejection of Karnataka’s application seeking 7.56 tmcft of water for the Kalasa-Banduri Nala drinking water project.

Floors leaders of both Houses of the State legislature, State MPs and MLAs and MLCs from Dharwad, Gadag, Bagalkote and Belagavi districts have been asked to attend the meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The meeting would be held at conference hall of the Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.

Siddaramaiah, who chaired a meeting with Water Resources Minister M B Patil and senior officials on Wednesday, told reporters later that Patil would hold a meeting with State’s counsel Fali Nariman on Friday to explore legal options before the State Government to set right injustice meted out to the State by the Tribunal.

Patil had already held first round of discussion with Nariman on last Sunday.

It is learnt that the State Government was in a dilemma whether to file a special leave petition before the Supreme Court or the review petition before the Mahadayi Waer Disputes Trihunal challenging the latter’s verdict on rejecting the interim application of Karnataka.

So what? If the paddy field is due for planting, we get up early in the morning and start our job. Why not a politician, to whom we, tax payers supply from salt to chicken biriyani with salad, start looting us from day next?
