Bhatkal: 7 fishermen swim for 9 hours after boat capsizes, rescued

Bhatkal, Aug 4: One fisherman went missing and seven others were rescued after a fishing boat capsized off the coast here on Wednesday August 3.

The boat with eight fisherman set off from Bhatkal port at around 2 pm on Wednesday and capsized at around 4.30 pm.

Among the eight, seven fishermen swam for nearly 9 hours in the turbulent sea and luckily spotted a boat moving towards the shore. They then signalled to the boat and were rescued. They reached ashore at around 1.30 am on Thursday August 4.

They have been admitted into the Bhatkal Government Hospital.

    Swim for 9 hours for survival..!! Stunning..Great..Last week,I read one article about Young Girl,Yusra Mardini from Syria who was leaving(due to IS threat) for Greece in a crowded boat with her Parents and sisters.All of a sudden,Boat captain ordered some people to jump into sea to save entire boat passengers being drowned.It was heavily crowded and Boat was on the verge of sinking..So,Yusra,her sister and some passengers jumped into sea..They swam nearly 4 hours and reached Greece..As they faced difficulties in Greece,they moved to Germany..

    Now International Olympic Committee announced that there would be team of refugees at the Games in Rio Olympics..and Brave Yusra Mardini has been ed..She will compete in Swimming Competition. Good Luck Yusra..
