Udupi: Two cattle thieves arrested - 21 cows, calves rescued

Udupi, Aug 4: Police arrested two cattle thieves near Ambalpady junction and rescued 21 cows and calves which were being transported to Mangaluru illegally in a Mahindra pickup vehicle for slaughter on Wednesday, August 3.

The arrested have been identified as Abubakar Sadique (31) and Iqbal (28). Asif and Shabbir, two other accused fled from the spot. All four accused are the residents of Mangaluru.

The accused had kept 21 stolen cows and calves at Kavadi on Tuesday before loading them into the vehicle on Wednesday.

Udupi police had tried to waylay the vehicle at Santhekatte based on a tip-off from Brahmavar police but the accused had fled without stopping. The police then managed to stop the vehicle at Ambalpady junction and arrested the two.

The police have sent the animals to Neelavar. There was a pregnant cow among them.

Udupi police have registered a case. 

The accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.

    Just trace out other two cattle thieves. Within one month..once again involve in same activities.
    Sacrificial event all around. Our villagers never ever of it. They send there cows out like kapila, sumathi, irene, olga, to fetch more milk. Wolves sitting in a corner with vehicles to brag such opportunities.

    Photo ID's should be issued to all Cows and Bulls with their picture like Aadhar Card...with finger prints and Biometric Data...So all cows could be traced to their owners..

    There is two types of cow stealing.One is genuine cow boys ugly job & the other one is cow holders fake allegation after selling them to the buyers.Whichever category it may be the way they transporting it is really inhumane & horrible.Consuming the things which is stolen is strictly prohibited & unwanted.

    cow stealing is like a ones bread stealing.I condemn that.But here cows were not stolen but must have sold by People who buy a most better milk giving cow .many do it so and a cow which was pregnant one.How can be sure it was stolen?Now what about These cows?sold and make Money by tip giver and Police or caretaker?Good Business in the Name of cow stealing?Since cows were with calves,I think it was not a slaughter house animals.

    First of all Please dont steal the cows, surely you will be caught one day.
    If you buy any cows from the farmers or anyone, make sure with the written documents(I mean signature ) that the cow is sold to you. Because now a days the person himself selling the cows and complaining it as stolen.

    Ridiculous argument! Both the issues are one and the same. They are stealing in order for the cows to be slaughtered immediately and fed to those who eat them. By your logic then killing tiger's and dealing in tiger bones / skin is also a separate issue. When buying stops then killing will stop too. The butcher will not kill if there's no one to buy or eat his meat.

    Then the buyer is moron to buy such huge cattle at one go and without proper documentation and certification from the nearest police stn. If he is doing being aware that such things are crime and not allowed then the buyer has to be aware of the consequences (if got caught) and later shud blame the farmer.

    Export Bhagya is centralized to Gujaratis. It is so planned that all those who sell their cows to individuals and small traders now has to sell it to whole sellers at low cost. Increase in beef export indirectly increased the commission bhagya of so called Gowrakshak income.
