HC asks Lokayukta court to re-examine case against Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 5: The state high court (HC) has directed the Lokayukta court at Shivamogga to re-examine case filed by advocate, Vinod, against former chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, and others alleging accumulation of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income.

The bench of the HC presided by Justice Srinivasa Reddy, when disposing off application filed by Yeddyurappa and others, noted that the lower court had received the complaint for hearing without recording affidavits from the complainants. It further said that prior permission from competent authority had not been obtained to move against the person named as accused. For these reasons, it has asked the lower court to re-examine the case.

Shivamogga-based advocate, Vinod had filed a private complaint in the Lokayukta court in 2012, alleging that former chief minister of the state, Yeddyurappa, had amassed illegal wealth running into crore of rupees by misusing his powers. The court, which had heard the application, had ordered service of notices on Yeddyurappa, his son Raghavendra, son-in-law, Sohan Kumar, and others.
