Mangaluru: St Thomas School at Bodantila suspends arabic teaching

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 6: St Thomas aided higher primary school at Bondanthila in the outskirts of the city, which was in the news after Sri Ram Sene activists had attacked it and protested against teaching Arabic language in the school, has decided to suspend teaching of Arabic with immediate effect.

A meeting of village dignitaries and members of school development and monitoring committee was held in the school premises on Friday August 5 to discuss the issue arising out of this attack. After discussions, the school management decided to stop imparting Arabic education immediately.

At the said meeting, discussions were held and opinions were expressed openly, after which decision as above was taken.

Surprised to note that an authorized, govt. recognized and legally established independent institution has bowed down to the pressure of some unauthorized, notorious outfit, simply on the issue of teaching a foreign language. I expected the school to continue teaching Arabic alongside other languages, and if possible introduce Hebrew also in near future. The school needs to show that they are teaching languages and not religion. In such case the school should have suspended teaching all foreign languages.

mr. john it is an aided school. and no outsider allowed to teach as per law. if so they should take permission from education ministry.for example some colleges are allowed to teach only arts and commerce. they cannot teach science. if they want to they should obtain permission from ministry.
tuitions are given outside not inside the school

If they enter inside any educational institutions or religious places they should be lati-charged and arrested with goonda act! Illiterates started teaching the educated class, very funny! Better get your education in sanghi schools!

Initially he did not want the issue to be escalated.
But there is one section of the society with vested interests wanted to cash on this issue. They probably threatened the Principal to change his stand during the press conference.
Once he back to school, he is the man again, cancelled all arabic classes.

Can't help a feeling of deja vu. In the early sixties the upper casts people through the RSS vehemently opposed the establishment of, now, a very reputed school and college in Puttur. The apparent reason was conversions but in reality the upper caste land lords were scared of losing laborers and people to do menial jobs due to the spread of education. Wonder if its the same reason for opposing the closure of Arabic classes - letting the ignorant remain ignorant!

true it is quite evident some parents affiliated to senas had started the arabic classes just to create tension and then backed out. The school management should keep a close watch on these wards. Every time we need not bow to these antisocial elements, otherwise they will interfere in all our affairs and will not allow us to function as it is they themselves not bothered abt their majority community and starting schools but want to interfere. At least let the case against the goons not be withdrawn afterall we are showing our displeasure peacefully and legally unlike them using using hooliganism.

Sanghi parivar have problem with anything related to Muslims. But,they don't have problem with followings:-
Gulf jobs, dirhams, riyals and dinars
They don't have problem in fuel importing from arab countries
They don't have problem in our superiors visit islamic countries
They don't have problem in huge huge exports of beef to Arab countries.
They don't have problem in Cows dying and stinking on the roads of Gujarat
They don't have problem in Cows are starving to death in Rajasthan goshalas.
    What kind of mentality?
If all those who learn Arabic will be terrorists, then we already have 1.5 billion Muslims who know arabic.
