Sullia: Police nab gang of state highway looters

Sullia, Aug 6: A gang of youth, who allegedly were waiting for vehicles, intercepting them, and forcing those in the vehicles to part with money, was arrested by the local police on the night of Thursday August 4. The gang operated on the state highway between the town and Puttur at Anegundi near Kanakamajalu.

The arrested persons are Rohit, Guruprasad, Kishore, Sridhar, Praveen and Harish from Koltige village, and Ramesh and Harihchandra from Charvaka village. As per information received, the gang members wielded cudgels and sickles to threaten people.

As soon as the police came to know that vehicles were being stopped and their occupants were being fleeced, they went there and arrested the accused.
