Mangaluru, Aug 6: Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) has added a new feather on its cap by getting National Accreditation Body For Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) reaccreditation for its laboratory for the third consecutive term. The accreditation certificate was handed over to Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director FMMCH by Fr Richard Coelho, administrator FMMCH at a ceremony held at FMMCH on Friday, August 5.

Addressing the gathering Fr Richard Coelho said, "The process of getting NABL accreditation is easy but getting reaccreditation is not easy. Continuing and giving that quality after the accreditation is difficult. Usually after getting accreditation, it gets worn out but we have successfully managed to get reaccreditation for the third time. This has been possible because of the experienced staff, latest equipment and technology. This was made possible by the collective team effort by all the staff. I thank everyone for their efforts and request them to continue the service in the coming days too."

Fr Patrick Rodrigues in his presidential address said, "What makes FMMCH different from other hospitals is the commitment of our staff and faculty. It is only because of the commitment of our staff, we have been able to achieve this accreditation for the third time. I congratulate the entire team who were involved in this accreditation process. There is always scope for development when we do not give up. I thank all people on behalf of the institution who have made this possible."

Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean of FMMC welcomed the gathering while Dr Umashankar T, lab director thanked the gathering. Dr Shivashankara A R, quality manager of FMMCHL narrated the journey of NABL accreditation.

Whenever we see the name of Fr. Mullers on any local publications from Mangalore our mind and our heart palpitates with joy because there is always something new and something encouraging to learn about the Institution in their new pursuit of Research and Development
on medicine that will help the people of Mangalore.

Fr. Patrick has given his never-ending focus on this great Catholic Instituion for so many years as a Director. May God give him continued good health so that he may continue his mission for many more years. (although we see that Fr. Patrick is losing some weight from the picture). We have never had a chance to meet Fr. Richard but his vision must be equally helpful for Fr. Mullers.

Accredition for the Central Lab is a clear indication that Fr. Mullers is moving in the right direction in Research and Development towards medicine. Fr. Mullers has come a long way from the days of Fr. Muller himself and all his team of experts that he gathered in the 19th century and made the Homeopathic Instituion as a Catholic Landmark of Mangalore.

Both Fr. Mullers Hospital as well as St. Aloysius College are the Christian landmarks of Mangalore that were the best Crown Jewel contributions from the six dynamic Jesuits that came to India during the 19th century and expanded the City in a ten fold fashion.

Thank you Fr. Patrick and Fr. Richard and many others for your close support to Bishop Aloysius. You all deserve a "Padma Vibushan" Award one of these days for your meritorious work towards the needy people of Mangalore.

Congratulations and full credit is due to Fr. Patrick, Fr. Richard, Fr. Rudolf, the Dean, the Lab Director, the Quality Manager and the entire Staff of Fr. Muller Hospital, on this great achievement.

Without the highest level of professionalism, dedication, sincerity and sacrifice by the entire team, this achievement would definitely not have been possible. Having been one of the grateful beneficiaries of various departments of this great institution during my student days and early years of my banking career, I wish it many more laurels in the coming years and may God bless the entire team.
