Mangaluru, Aug 7: Vishwa Konkani Kendra has decided to give away two awards in the name of 'Vishwa Konkani Sardar' Basti Vaman Shenoy on the occasion of him completing 80 years of age.

Konkani-speaking individuals backed by excellent achievements in the fields of education, health, medical, and social service and also educational institutions, organizations managed by Konkani-speaking people engaged in social service, health, science, journalism, art, commercial, sports etc are eligible to be considered for these two awards.

The award carries cash component of Rs 1 lac. Nominees can be an individual with Konkani as mother tongue or Konkani organizations. Individuals should be aged over 18 years of age, and in case of organizations nominated for the award, they should be under the management of people having Konkani as their mother tongue, and their founders should be Konkani-speaking people. At the time of nomination, the concerned should have been in existence at least for the last five years. Individuals and organizations can nominate themselves.

Filled in applications should be sent to President, B V S Vishwa Konkani Seva Puraskar selection committee, Vishwa Konkani Kendra,Loboprabhu Nagar, Konkani Gaon, Shaktinagar, Mangaluru - 575 016 to reach the addressee before September 20, a release from the Kendra said.
