Dubai Police rescue teen girl from mother’s torture

Aug 8 (emirates247): Dubai Police have rescued a 14-year-old girl from her mother, who is accused of frequently torturing her, ‘Al Bayan’ reports.

Lila Shahmarad, chief of the Happiness section at Al Qusais Police Station, said that the case took place when the department received a tip-off that a girl was being subjected to domestic violence.

She added that the girl then informed the police that her mother was assaulting her physically and repeatedly torturing her.

The Dubai Police referred her to forensics, which stated that the girl has bruises on her body from repeated beatings and torture.

“It was discovered that the mother has a history of abusing and torturing her daughter,” Shahmarad said.

When subjected to interrogation, the mother said that her daughter is a burden and she does not want her in the house.

Shahmarad added that the mother has another son and is giving good care to and attention him.

She pointed out that the girl has been sent to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC).
