Illegal constructions: Govt recommends enquiry against 20 officials

Bengaluru, Aug 10 (Agencies): The state government on Wednesday gave nod for booking criminal cases against 20 Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), BDA and PWD engineers allegedly responsible for allowing illegal constructions in Bengaluru, according to reports.

Action is based on Additional Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain's recommendations.

The notification says the officers who seem to be prima facie responsible for the wrong doings have been identified and the serving officers have been placed under suspension forthwith.

Special Commissioner (Projects), BBMP, may take up a detailed enquiry into the matter.

Out of 20 officials facing the enquiry 14 are still serving and remaining six officials are retired.

Details are awaited.

What is a need for an enquiry? That has already been done by the additional Chief Secretary. What is required now is initiating criminal proceedings by lodging an F I R. This corrupt government is afraid of taking action.

One would also need to look into powerful builder mafia who would have forced these officials to act in favor. In simple words, Bangalore is being ruled by the builders from Andhra and our people are paying the price now.
