Mangaluru, Aug 11: A government employee working with the commercial tax department in the city was found dead at the PWD quarters at Bondel here on Thursday August 11.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Prasad (45).

Sources said that he was an alcoholic and due to his addiction, his wife had divorced him. He was living alone in the quarters, and has been occupying it for the last four years.

Ganesh worked as first division assistant in the commercial tax office here.

The incident came to light when neighbours sensed a foul smell emanating from Ganesh's house. They informed the police, who found his body lying on the floor. It is suspected that he might have got inebriated and fallen and hurt his head, which resulted in his death.

As the body was decomposed, it is surmised that he might have died on Sunday August 7.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Kavoor police arrived at the spot and registered case.
