Udupi, Aug 12: In a fresh revelation, a relative of the slain businessman Bhaskar Shetty has claimed that his son Navaneeth was a test tube baby.
Speaking exclusively to Daijiworld 24x7 TV channel, Bhaskar's brother-in-law Jogu Shetty said that as Bhaskar and his wife Rajeshwari could not conceive, Rajeshwari had approached a private hospital in Manipal for having a test tube baby. Navaneeth was thus born.
Jogu Shetty further claimed that Navaneeth had assaulted his father on previous occasions also. He also said that Rajeshwari had not allowed Bhaskar's mother Gulabi to be close with her grandson.
"Rajeshwari was in an illicit relationship with Niranjan Bhat. Bhaskar came to know about it and after he came down to Udupi from Saudi, he checked her text messages and found that she had been in constant touch with Niranjan and had an extra-marital affair with him. This led to quarrels.
"Bhaskar had planned to bequeath half of his property to his mother and donate another half to an orphanage. He also planned to give Rajeshwari her share of the money after divorcing her," he said.

Expressing doubts over Bhaskar's death, he said, "I believe that Bhaskar is still alive somewhere. It may have happened that the accused in this case used the 'homa kunda' to burn some meat and thrown some animal bones into the river so as to mislead the police. He may not have died. They might have kidnapped and confined Bhaskar in some unknown location. The police are hand in gloves with the accused, and some people in Katapady too are supporting them.
"We want justice. Rajeshwari and Navaneeth should be punished for their misdeeds," he said.
Bhaskar's nephew denies claims
Soon after the interview, Bhaskar's nephew Guruprasad issued a statement to daijiworld denying Jogu Shetty's claim that Navaneeth was a test tube baby.
"Do not take Jogu Shetty's statement seriously. He is suffering from high BP due to which he has lost mental balance. Navaneeth was not a test tube baby. We are getting several calls from locals about this.
"There are some confusions within the family itself though we were united at first. We also suspect that some negotiations have been made by some individuals. There should be a thorough probe into the matter," he added.
