Dharwad: Murder of man - wife, son, two others arrested

Dharwad, Aug 13: A case which resembles the murder case of Bhaskar Shetty at Udupi came into the open here on Friday August 12.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, city police commissioner, Pandurang Rane, said that Anil Revankar (44), residing at Anand Nagar, Hubballi, was killed on November 5, 2015 at Ranebennur by his wife, Anita Revankar (35) residing at Gopanakoppa, son, Nithin (18), her brother, Mahantesh Patil (32), and Patil's wife, Geetha (20).

Anita had fallen in love with Anil and in spite of opposition from his family, married Anil in 1996. After nearly 20 years of married life, the marriage was on the brink of collapse. Anita started to live with son Nitin, and daughter, in a rented home separately at Gopanakoppa. Anil, in course of time, developed suspicion that Anita had developed illicit relationship with a third person. He had fought with her on this issue.

Frustrated by this, Anita planned to kill her husband. On November 5 last year, Mahantesh took Anil to Ranebennur by train. On this occasion, he offered buttermilk mixed with sleeping pills to Anil. Chilli powder was then sprayed into Anil's eyes, before he was smothered to death with a pillow. The accused then brought the body of Anil same night in a car from Ranebannur to Kumarapatna Cross near Harihar, from where it was carried in a motor bike, before dropping it off into River Tungabhadra.

Anita had filed complaint with police on November 20, 2015 saying that her husband had been missing since November 3.

In the recent past, Anil's mother had filed police complaint, alleging that her daughter-in-law and grandson had murdered her son. The police, who investigated from this angle, got to know the truth, Rane said.

    Something is seriously wrong with current generation. The sanctity that marriage carried on its shoulders, in earlier days is today reduced to ashes. Today Love comes at a huge price it comes hidden with a sinister, hatred and attitude mindset, Sad but this is the ground reality. That is why ratio of divorce especially among highly educated class is more as well as shocking thing is this very high educated class of go to the extent of murder as well. I don't know how much educated were the people involved in the above murder were, but this is the ugly truth of our society. Sometimes i feel couples living in slums understand what truly love and sacrifice means rather than this fake so called higher middle class educated or higher class educated couples.

    It's not only in Karnataka there are such cases in other state also.Here the question is why these days women are killing their husbands.The truth is somewhere there is a fault with the men also.In this case there is no property involved and that too love marriage. The problem is many husbands at the initial stage of marriage want their wife to look after their kids so that they can earn peacefully. At later stage once the children grows up they start blaming the wife for each and everything. Always fighting with her not understanding her. And now the women empowerment is in process so somewhere women feel they are strong but they are not realizing they are doing wrong by killing their husband.They can go legally for each and everything. These days NGOS are there to help them. So husbands take care of your wife. If she is spending more don't directly stop. Try to understand where is the problem. Don't every now and then boss around. Dont hide anything from your wife. When you are meeting your brothers and sister and mother take your wife and children. Dont speak secretly with your mother. Occasionally meet your wife's relatives. Nothing wrong if you are bending a bit. Let people call you joru ka gulam. Don't bother about people. Later on they are not going to solve your problem.
