Udupi: Shetty murder - blood-stained clothes of Niranjan, Rajeshwari found

More details emerge, added suspicion, investigation picks up speed

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Aug 14: It is gathered that some blood-stained clothes said to be belonging to self-styled astrologer, Niranjan Bhat (26) and wife of Bhaskar Shetty, Rajeshwari (48), which were supposedly worn at the time of consigning the body to flames, were found from a laundry at Nitte village near Karkala. It is yet to be ascertained whether Navaneeth's clothes were among those found.

The police officials are tightlipped about this finding perhaps because of the need to maintain investigation details under wraps as per instructions from higher ups. Shirt and dhoti belonging to Niranjan  and pajama of the Churidar worn by Rajeshwari were reportedly found. It is suspected that these clothes were given to the laundry for erasing blood stains. Sources say that police personnel have taken these clothes into their possession.

SP takes personal interest

Since the last two days, investigation into the case has gained momentum, with three teams, one headed by DySP and two by inspectors, are involved. District superintendent of police (SP), K T Balakrishna, has taken personal interest in the investigation, and he has been collecting details on a daily basis and guiding the investigators. He himself visited Nandalike and surrounding areas on Saturday. All the three teams are investigating the crime from different angles like DNA, video clippings, call details, inquest etc.

Assistant superintendent of police of Karkala, Sumana D P, who has been made the investigating officer in the case, has refused to say anything about the investigation. But sources say that after she was entrusted with this responsibility, investigation has become purposeful and result-oriented.

The SP said that DNA matching of the bones found from the rivulet involves lenghty legal procedure as permission from court needs to be taken for collecting DNA samples of the mother or relatives of the deceased for this purpose.

New suspicion

A new suspicion has now been expressed about the veracity of the statement given by Niranjan Bhat, who had claimed during his questioning that remains of the Homa had been discharged into Palli Kalkar rivulet. There are rumours that actually the materials remaining at the end were dumped into River Shambhavi at Kadandale which is four kms further away. On Saturday, the police personnel including ASP Sumana visited River Shambhavi at Kadandale in four police jeeps and two private cars. As people and media persons started gathering there, the team left the spot. Locals said the the accused were also brought to the spot in jeep and photographs were being taken.

Police are not ready to reveal anything about this visit too except that it was part of investigation.

All this rumours or saying is total fake I say.Just imagine,Blood stained clothes are taken from Udipi to Nitte for laundry?and Nandalike they did the homa, bones are thrown in river away, and somewhere in Shambavi river in Kadandale were ashes thrown.why take so much Trouble to carry the rest of of deceased in different directions?A normal Person cant believe this Thats the first Thing.Police are now really having overtime ,whereas in the first hours were sleeping to do investigations .Of course without lunch many of us work when required. They can carry a box for emergency.Dont complain about it.It is high time the case is cleared.so that innocent ones may be freed, and real criminal gets the punishment as early as possible.Otherwise he/she may slip off.

Really I don't understand. In one place I saw it is written all clothes which are blood stained they burnt it. And they are not fools to give clothes to a laundry. As they are rich they can buy new clothes. Y to wear clothes which were once soaked in blood. Common sense!!

No sane people will give the blood stained clothes to the laundry - I doubt the authenticity of this. As they have burnt the body they would have burnt their clothes as well to nullify the evidence. There is something fishy in this - may be to facilitate clean chit to them in due course by proving that these clothes were not theirs.

As long as people and media are looking for scoops, someone will always feed them with misleading stories. It will be stupid to believe people drenched with money will give blood stained clothes to a laundry after committing a heinous crime. Ultimately, it is clear that public is being fed nonsense.

When a suspected crime scene has been found, the first thing that the Police normally do is to secure the place so that evidence is not tampered. I have been reading in DaijiWorld on two separate occasions, Police have taken the accused to two different locations and on both the occasions because the "public gathered", they have just returned without completing the investigations!

This is not professional. You are showing the crime scene to the public and then you are leaving the place unsecured, so that whoever wants to mess up the evidence is free to do so!

The 'gathering of public' is another matter. Our people are so curious that even if a dog dies, hundreds will gather. The Police should have enough personnel and arrangements so that people are not allowed to congregate. They can do it even forcefully, if required, because the gathering public are actually "hindering" the investigations.

I doubt that they will give blood stained clothes to laundry. No one will do such silly thing that too in a small place where you can get caught easily. Something is cooking to divert evidence. May be these clothes do not belong to anyone of these three

Total misleading, why the clothes reached a laundry. How many do it in Udupi, i mean laundry. So fast they declared it as human blood whereas they struggle to ascertain the bones are of human or chicken.

This is a great evidential breakthrough.... Crime never pays.... somewhere or the other evidence must be there it is left to Police Department to find and prove it with evidence.. Hope, Justice will be done to Shetty' mother and we the people of Tulu Nadhu...

    No doubt about it!!!
All the three have murdered shetty.Thats why bhat attempted to suicide.
Even the laundry guy should be taken into custody for detail interrogation. All the three must be arrested with non bailable warrants.Anyone who supports such a horrific killers who are so daring that they give their blood stained clothes to laundry, then i must say you are LESS HUMAN,MORE DEMON.
It clearly shows that these 3 are not at all worried about getting caught and now its duty of Indian judiciary to treat them with athlete fist.Show them that Indian law is far more superior than their attitude.
