Mangaluru, Aug 14: Relating to a fraud of over one crore rupees committed against Primacy Industries Ltd here, one of the two accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Search is on for the second accused.

Adil Sheikh, a resident of Kadri Mangaluru, stands arrested. Adil was an employee of the above company, who left it in 2009 as he got better prospects at Dubai. The company he joined, Fap World General Trading, was owned by Parvez Ahmed from Mumbai. Adil got in touch with Primacy authorities in August 2013 and claimed that the company he worked for can supply high quality refined paraffin wax to Primacy. Trusting his words, Primacy ordered for supply of 125 metric tonnes of wax and paid Rs 1.08 crore.

However when the stock arrived, officials of Primacy were taken aback to see that the consignment consisted of chalk powder. Primacy got to know that they were deceived by Adil and Parvez, and filed complaint in Panambur station. Both the accused evaded arrest, applied for anticipatory bail, and got it. But without meeting conditions imposed by the court, both fled to Dubai in 2014.

The accused had remained untraced since then. On August 8 this year, when Adil Sheikh came from Dubai, policemen arrested him at Mumbai airport and informed Panambur police. Policemen of Panambur went to Mumbai and brought him to the city and produced before second JMFC court. The court has remanded Adil to judicial custody till August 16.
