Minister D K Shivakumar abruptly stops children's dance midway

Daijiworld Media Network - Mandya (SP)

Mandya, Aug 16: District in-charge minister, D K Shivakumar, who was present at the independence day stage at Vishweshwariaah stadium here on Monday August 15, ordered suspension of a dance progremme being presented by school children abruptly on Monday August 15.

In the programme, presented by 250 children of a private school, children were dancing to the tune of patriotic Kannada song which exemplified the necessity to stay loyal to one's motherland even in the face of death. The children performing the dance had in their hands photographs of two deputy superintendents of police, M K Ganapati and Kallappa Handibag, who committed suicide recently, and also of IAS officer, D K Ravi, who died under mysterious circumstances.

The minister turned livid at this and ordered the dance to be stopped forthwith. He also took the deputy director of public instruction of the district to task.

The students, who were hoping to get accolades from the minister for their wonderful choreography and timing, instead got stick from him.

The suicides of the three officers had created political turmoil in the state, with the state Congress government coming under attack for not safeguarding honest officers.

Mixing patriotism by projecting the photos of government servants who committed suicide for personal reasons should not have been part of the Independence day celebrations. The children could have been given the photographs of martyrs who fought for independence or died fighting terrorists. Such controversies should be nipped in the bud.

I think what the minister did was perfectly correct. Children should not be used to score political score. Iam not a admirer of Congress & it's style of politics, but in this case minister was correct as we are celebrating independence day and children should carry Mahatma's, Ambedkar's & other freedom fighters photos & not of those who have committed suicide.

But after reading the complete write up, here I support D. K. Shivakumar for stopping the show.

I do not blame the children. But whoever has Directed this show, should be questioned and taken for task. Why the Independence show should be politicized.

Well done D.K. for stopping this type of conspiracy, political motivated show, during National programs.

I feel that it was wrong to glorify people who said to have been committed suicide even though they were public officers especially in front of children. It is different issue what was actually happened with them. It is for adults to find and fight if needed. Instead kids would have carried photos of Karnataka soldiers who martyred fighting for the nation.
At the same time, I object to the action of DKS also. Even if he had the objection, he could have waited until the kids finished dancing and after that taken the school management into task. Breaking the heart of tiny tots is not a gentleman's way. But then being a politician and being a gentleman are two distant things!

Kallana manassu hullullage... it's like that. Some people have written these are not role models , they have committed suicide and all... it's very unfortunate that the power is with criminals and these loyal officers are forced to surrender. for those who wrote they committed suicide , was uncalled for and unwarranted too.. etc etc. Bloody they were IAS / IPS Officers , please keep in mind. There should have been a strong power which insisted them or forced them to take that step. I have a simple question for all those who wrote above statements. Just assume there are some terrorists or murderers who keep the gun on your wife and children and give you a option as they will survive only if you gun at yourself. I am sure 99 % of us will be ready to surrender and kill ourselves to save our family, especially our kids. that time you will not think whether suicide is a loyal act , what will happen to your name and fame... nothing. So, it's easy to sit , watch the news and comment. Just close your eyes and try to realize how tough for them to end their lives with such a stupid manner, that also being so reputed personalities. Everything is tuned by the politicians with money power. that's it this gentleman felt and ran off from the venue with out able to face the truth.

Real hero is ready to die but not surrender or suicide (if they are hero's). Real hero's are like soldiers, they put their life in risk to save the people of the nation. People like us may commit suicide or compromise because we are common / inferior people compare to the people who are in Police / Military Services.

When we teach something to children they will keep the same in their mind, now students of the said school (all of them those who are on the stage and spectators) already made up their mind that if there is any problems in their life they will commit suicide because their hero's committed suicide.

How come kids got to know these persons who are dead personally to glorify their service to the nation or their duty?
The persons who permitted & choreographed the dance need to be suspended & action should be taken against them after serving show cause notice to them for bringing in political game plan of few narrow minded people belonging to a certain organization.
I have seen these people glorifying the leaders like Savarkar or the kind of people like Godse who had no role to play in our independence but had supported the British & had opposed Quit India Movement, in their cultural events at schools run by this organization, they teach hatred towards other communities to kids learning in their schools.

But how you stops and give report that they are not honest. And you are become foolish that youself agreed that something you are hiding.

Open letter to Mr. Amarnath Shetty,

Why these children have been used while singing patriotic songs on Independence day, to display the photo's in their hands of govt. officials who have done suicide.

Why using the Independence day function to settle scores. If the children would have held the placards of freedom fighter, it would have given in the children minds to appreciate the sacrifice of our freedom fighters and tomorrow they would have the motivation if required, to sacrifice their life for the motherland.

Here the placards of 3 officers who have chose to suicide which is coward act. D.K. Ravi might be a case of death under mysterious circumstances.

In what way, you are giving motivation to our children to face challenges by holding the placards of these 3 officers. "Suicide or fight like freedom fighters".
