Udupi, Aug 16: Sumathi Shetty, mother of Rajeshwari Shetty, speaking to a local channel, has put forth the argument that her daughter and grandson would have killed Bhaskar Shetty in self defence. She said that her son-in-law had hatched a plan to kill his wife and son.
"My son-in-law would have visited Rajeshwari on July 28, and after a fight, my daughter, with the help of her son, would have killed Bhaskar. But she ensured that her son ignited the funeral pyre," she said, putting forth a strange argument. She said Rajeshwari has deep faith in Homas and other religious procedures, interest in which was created in her by her own father-in-law, Seena Shetty.
"My daughter is sensitive. Her husband always doubted her character. Unable to bear his harassment, in a fit of anger, she would have killed her husband, and her son would have helped her, as he was unable to bear the agony of his mother," she explained.
She said Bhaskar had relationship with a nurse at Saudi Arabia through whom he has a three-and-half years old female child. When Rajeshwari questioned Bhaskar about this, he sought divorce from her and threatened to kill her if she refuses to divorce him. On that occasion, Navaneeth had hit his father, she revealed.
