Indian Social Forum Kuwait celebrates Independence Day

Kuwait, Aug 17: The Indian Social Forum (ISF) Karnataka Chapter, Kuwait celebrated India’s 70th Independence Day with great joy, enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on August 15. The event kicked off with the unity song at 7.30 pm at Salmiya Red Flame Hall.













Speaking on the occasion, Stany Martis, president Bellevision, Kuwait said that by upholding unity in brotherhood, all the communities together should march towards progress and prosperity. The non-violent movements of India's independence struggle was unique by nature and is a better solution for today’s violent world.

Delivering the keynote address, Imthiyaz Ahmed Arkula, general secretary, ISF, Karnataka Chapter said that the purpose of freedom struggle in India is not just to change rulers; instead, it is to gain freedom to act, speak or think as one wants which includes freedom to practice and preach any religion. He said that India is a land of numerous races, castes, creeds, religions and languages. Unity in diversity is India’s strength.

Condemning the continuous attacks on Dalits, Muslims, Christians and other minority communities in India, Arkula called upon the youth to be the sentinels of freedom as divisive forces are trying to damage the secular fabric of the nation.

Alauddin Ainul Haque Bihar, vice president, ISF Central Council presided over the programme. In his presidential address, he threw light on the historical factors of freedom struggle and contributions of our forefathers.

Sayyed Beary, president, Manipur Association also spoke on the occasion. KIFF Karnataka Chapter president Mustakeem was also present on the dais.

Mohammed Rafeeq Manchi, president, ISF, Karnataka Chapter welcomed the gathering while Thameem Ullal anchored the programme and Thanzeel Moosa Kallapu delivered the vote of thanks. Refreshments were served at the end. The event concluded with the national anthem.
