Konkani Fudar Diwas observed at Suratkal

Mangaluru, Aug 18: Konkani Fudar Diwas was celebrated by the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church Suratkal on August 15.

Fr Paul Pinto, presided over the programme. Roy Castelino the president of Konkani Sahitya Academy was the chief guest and in his message appreciated the richness of Konkani language and culture.

Henry D’ Silva, the parishioner and the film producer and Chelvaraj circle inspector of police, Suratkal station were the guests of honour. Henry D’ Silva was honoured. Peter Alex D’ Souza, the vice-president, Vida Miranda, the secretary, George Ligoury D’ Souza and Juliana Monteiro were present on the stage.

People of all the 17 wards presented variety of cultural programmes. They enjoyed the taste of ‘Haldi Kolachya Patolyo’ distributed during the programme prepared by people of different wards. More than thousand parishioners participated.

Lancy Sequeira was the master of ceremony.
