Udupi: Fisherman falls into sea, loses life

Udupi, Aug 19: A person fell into the sea during fishing activity and lost his life off Hangarcutta port in the taluk on Wednesday August 17. Manjappa (23), a resident of Badami in Bagalkot district was the victim of this accident.

Manjappa was working for a Hangarcutta-based fishing boat since sometime as coolie. On Wednesday, he was on board the boat that was moving to Manur from Hangarcutta. When pulling the fishing net, he slipped and fell into the sea. He was brought out of water immediately and admitted into a private hospital at Brahmavar nearby.

However, Manjappa did not respond to treatments and died sometime later. A case about the incident was filed in Kota police station.

It is said that Manjappa was from a very poor background, and his family was entirely dependent on his income.
