Udupi: Woman bothered by ill health jumps into well

Udupi, Aug 20: A woman on a visit of her son living in the city jumped into a well and ended her life. The incident occurred at Sampige Nagara, Udyavar here on Friday August 19.

It is said that the victim, Shanta Shetty (65), was suffering from multifarious ailments including high blood pressure and diabetes. She had come to the house of her son at Udyavar a few days back.

It is suspected that worries about her illnesses were weighing down on her mind heavily. Her husband had died a few years back. Shanta is survived by a son and a daughter. A report about this suicide was filed in Kaup police station.
