Udupi, Aug 20: Members of district unit Bharat Communist Party (Marxist) staged a protest in front of Clock Tower, near here on Friday August 19 to condemn the brutal murder of Praveen Poojary.

Balakrishna, district secretary addressing the protestors said, "Another brutal murder has been reported in the city in just 15 days."

He added, "Modi had criticized the fake cattle protectors, but now it is difficult to identify who is genuine and who is fake. Cattle protectors are hiding behind a mask. A true cattle protector is one who nurtures an animal with a lot of care and affection. Beef export has increased after BJP came to power at the central government."

Recalling the incidents of 2006, he said, "Hajabba and his son Hajanabba from Adi-Udupi were stripped naked by a mob of people on grounds of cattle trafficking. Patali Krishnayya was killed on the same issue, but the case was acquitted due to lack of evidence. The state government has to take up this matter as a serious issue and it needs to take stern action against the attackers."

K Shankar, state secretary, senior leader Vishwanth Rai, Mahabala Vadera Hobali, H Narasimha, Suresh Kallagar, Shekhar Banger were present at the protest.
