Dammam: ISF holds Independence Day celebration for NRI Indians

Dammam, Aug 23: Indian Social Forum, Karnataka State Committee held Independence Day celebrations for NRI Indians to commemorate India’s 70th independence, recently at Dammam Paragon Restaurant Auditorium.




























Speaking on the occasion, Nazeer Thumbe, excecutive member of Indian Social Forum said that people from all religions, workers, women, students, writers, dalits and minorities have sacrificed their life for freedom struggle. It is unfortunate that in independent India minorities, dalits, women, writers and students are still fighting for the freedom to live, freedom to eat and freedom to speak. It is because of this, the general public still has this question in their minds on who got freedom in India.

In his presidential speech, Arif Jokatte, president of Indian Social Forum, Karnataka State Committee said that patriotism is not to love your government. The real patriotism is to raise your voice against anti-people policies and to fight for social justice. It is the responsibility of each Indian to actively participate in all its developments.

The guests present on the dais were, Hatim Kanchi, DKSC central committee member, Ravi Karkera, advisor of MASA, Saudi Arabia, Abhijeet Vargese, surgeon of Dammam Medical Complex, Mohammad Irshad, secretary of India Fraternity Forum, Eastern Province.

The programme was initiated with respect to the Indian flag. The public present in the programme were overwhelmed by the song ‘Hey Mere Watan’ sung by little artiste Greeshma.

On account of Indian Independence Day, Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and AlHasa Social Forum branches conducted Independence Sports meet with a variety of games. On this occasion prizes were distributed for the winners of the cricket tournament held on Eskan playground on August 12. Mushtaq of ‘Mash Pro Shipping & Logistics’ awarded the prize to Shan Belwai team, winner of the tournament. Narendra Shetty, president of MASA, Saudi Arabia awarded the prize to Western Karkala team runner up of the tournament.
On this event identity cards of Indian Social Forum were also distributed by Wasim Rabbani, Central Committee President of Indian Social Forum. Imran Katipalla, state secretary of Indian Social Forum delivered the introductory speech. State committee members Iqbal Idya, welcomed the gathering, Abdurrahman Mudubidri delivered the vote of thanks and Mohammad Nisaf, Khobar branch committee member coordinated the programme.

Sweets and dinner were served to the NRI Indians present at the Independence Day celebration.
