Mangaluru, Aug 24: Demanding the arrest of those who allegedly raised anti-India slogans at an event and to hand over the case to National Investigative Agency (NIA), to take suitable action against the police officials who lathi charged the ABVP activists, a protest was observed by the BJP leaders here at DC office on Wednesday August 24.

Addressing the protest, former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, "We condemn the inhuman attitude of the police who caned the ABVP activists. On the other hand the state government without taking any action against Amnesty International has failed to stop anti national activity in the state. Being a former member of parliament Ramya, said that the ground-level situation in the country was different rebutting Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar’s comment that 'going to Pakistan is like going to hell'. BJP opposes this. The state government should take severe action against those who have given wrong statements against the soldiers who protect our country."

MLC Ganesh Karnik said, "Amnesty International had organized an event where slogans were raised against our soldiers who protect our nation. We Indians will not tolerate these anti national slogans. The ABVP activists who were peacefully protesting were lathi charged. We oppose this. The government has to think about the future of this government. This government will not be permanent and the police officials have to think of how the next government will see this."

"Ramya had given a good statement of Pakistan. She must go and meet the people who have been living in tents for the past 30 years. She must ask them questions like what atrocities they have faced, where did Kasam come from and then make a statement. Amnesty International does not talk about human rights violation on Kashmiri pandiths. They are talking about the human rights violation on separatists. Freedom of speech does not mean talking against the nation. It involves a responsibility. All of a sudden U T Khader has got the capability of giving a definition on nationalism and patriotism. U T Khader introspects what is nationalism, what is patriotism. We demand severe action against the guilty and to withdraw cases against ABVP activists."

BJP leaders Vedavyas Kamath, Roopa D Bangera, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present.
