New Delhi, Dec 7: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to take up for hearing two separate applications seeking action against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his "inflammatory" remarks on the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter.

A Bench headed by Justice Tarun Chatterjee posted the matter for hearing on Monday.

The issue was mentioned before the bench by senior counsel Dushyant Dave appearing for Rubbabuddin Sheikh, brother of the deceased and Prashant Bhushan, who appeared for Javed Akhtar, another petitioner.

The two petitioners sought an inquiry into Modi's reported justification of the fake encounter in which Sohrabuddin was killed on November 26, 2005.
