Mangaluru, Aug 29: People gathered in a large number near Moodushedde Edurupadavu mosque demanding the release of Saifulla, an accused arrested for allegedly involved in Charan’s murder.

The protest was held on Sunday, August 28. Popular Front of India (PFI) activists and some locals took part in the protest.

The protestors said that Saifulla, who was arrested by police on Saturday in connection with the murder of Charan, was innocent and hence he should be released. They said DCP himself should come and accept the petition from the protestors and they would gherao the Mangaluru rural police station otherwise. DCP Shantharaju who came to the venue of protest accepted the petition and said that comprehensive investigation will be held and action be taken.

As there were security concerns near Mangaluru police station, police personnel under ACP Udaya Naik were deployed at the place. The vehicles which had come that side were not allowed to park at the police station to stop the protestors from congregating.

Kadri police inspector Maruti Nayak, Pandeshwar inspector Belliappa, Bunder police inspector Shantharam, rural police inspector Sharif, inspector Bharathi and KSRP police were seen at the site.

Police meanwhile registered cases against bike riders who rode without helmets. Around 20 riders were caught in duration of one hour.

Yesterday they were against a school management. Today its a release of a criminal. They are playing the religion card. This is getting a lil too much. I think they should be reigned ASAP. For sure they have a sound backing from one of the sachivas.

Any peace loving Organization would press for arresting the culprit whereas in our region one or two such organizations always fight for culprits to release them!!!!! For them all are innocents if culprits belongs to their community else all are criminals accordingly to their mind-set
