Taylor Swift dismissed from jury duty

Los Angeles, Aug 30 (IANS): Singer Taylor Swift was dismissed as a potential juror in an aggravated rape and kidnapping case because of her own sexual abuse case against a former radio host whom she accused of groping her.

Swift surprised people when she casually showed up at Music City's criminal courthouse in Nashville on Monday, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Wearing a black shirt with minimal make-up, Swift mingled with fellow potential jurors who later shared on their social media pages photographs and video of them with the 26-year-old.

When prosecutors asked her profession during jury selection, Swift replied: "I am a songwriter."

She also mentioned her pending sexual assault case, but told the court that she could remain impartial, if selected.

Swift was sued by former radio host David Mueller who claimed he was fired from his job at 98.5 KYGO after wrongfully being accused of groping her at a meet-and-greet before her Denver concert in 2013.

In response to the allegation, Swift filed a counter lawsuit in which she stated that "Mueller did not merely brush his hand against Ms. Swift while posing for the photograph. He lifted her skirt and groped her".

Because of her own ongoing legal case, Swift wasn't allowed to join the jury panel. But she reportedly told the judge she would be more than willing to serve on a jury in any other type of case.
