Mangaluru: BJP unhappy over bond stipulation for religious ceremonies, festivals

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 31: Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit has condemned the action of the district superintendent of police (SP), in making it mandatory to furnish bond amounting to Rs 10 lac for holding of different Hindu festivals, religious celebrations and national festivals by several organizations, institutions and Hindu centres of faith.

"Dakshina Kannada district is a land of Daivas and gods. Since times immemorial, Hindu religiious programmes have been held here in a way that is different and unique as compared to other districts. These programmes have been held in peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The BJP may be forced to take to streets if the SP does not properly assimilate the culture of this district and tries to crush religious sentiments of the district," said district BJP president, Sanjeev Matandoor.

He has demanded the SP not to stipulate the bond condition of Rs 10 lac for regularly held national festivals, Hindu festivals and religious celebrations and Hindu religious programmes organized by different organizations and institutions in the district.

Bring all temples, churches, mosques under government control. Let government appoint priests, nuns, mullas and pay them proper salary.

I would say its absolutely just whatever is happening in mosques and churches, temples also should follow and should be made under control of the believers, the income which they get has to be audited and accounted for thats all. Also, i feel the income should be spent for the up-gradation of respective religious institutions and well being of believers, not be spent on state priorities, there is some other means for it

The overtly communal attitude of BJP is clear when they demand only for organising Hindu festivals. They should have demanded the same for any festivals by any religion. The way they are presenting gives an impression that only hindus are demanded deposits. and others let free. This is the way of BJP trying to polarize society by religion.

How come police can frame rules?
Bond with rupees 10,000/- is ok for all religions.

Recently I heard to get clearance for 1 day symbolic annual cock fight people paid rupees 5k to cops.

    That is pathetic..

    Sri,

Tried very hard not to reply on your senseless comment. District BJP President knows the details and taking steps to remove the bond requirement.

You have a long way to be familiar and understand why this bond was required, what is the cause, and who implemented this requirement.

My friend Sri, there is a cause for the bond and to reduce possible risk and follow-up cost associated with any damage to property or people, bond is required so that organizers take responsibility to minimize undue situations.

Please get a copy of the bond document available in any police station, and if you read all clauses and referenced legal articles in the bond, you may be able to learn and understand the bond requirements.

Based on past situations and instances, the bond should be increased to 20 Crores or more. These issues are discussed and approved by each of the organizers to sign the bond so that required approvals are obtained in a timely manner.

If there are no undue situations and harmony in society, say for two years in a row, requirement for bond may be abolished.

Since you are a good activist and concerned citizen, you are responsible to provide known information on corruption by cops to a responsible person in Government, be it SP or DC level. Since you stated "heard to get clearance for 1 day symbolic annual cock fight people paid rupees 5k to cops" you SHOULD provide known details as soon as possible to closest police station or your DC.

Please do not tell the world in a comment such statements if you are not sure or cannot provide specific details. Now you have made such statement, make sure you do follow-up and let us see such corruption is minimized in future and eradicated.

Mangalore/Udupi is prone to communal clashes due to some extreme speeches in religious USTAVAS arranged by Sanghis....But segregation(I don't know)to Hindu festivals and celebrations are uncalled for if not applicable to all religions festivals and USTAVAs.

This anti hindu govt must go at any cost in 2018. Practising hinduisem has become a crime under this govt, that we have to pay the govt now to practice any rituals. The last time I heard such practice existed was when India was ruled by moguls that Hindus had to pay tax to go to any yaathra to religious places. And now under this khangress govt. For vote bank it's Shaadi Bhaagya, for Hindus it's pay and celebrate Bhaagya.
