Mangaluru, Aug 31: Department of Community Medicine of A J Medical College in association with OBG and pediatrics concluded after a weeklong function for breast milk promotion. The theme of the promotion was 'Breast feeding – a gift that lasts a lifetime' at their college auditorium on August 26.

Among the 20 undergraduate team e-posters, six were shortlisted by a team of two judges, Dr Mangalagowri Kamath from the department of OBG and Dr Jayashree Hegde from the department of pediatrics. After the final selection by Dr Amritha Bhandary, IMA president, from the city, Dr Roshan Maben, professor at A J pediatrics department and Vani Jayaram, past president, Samatha Mahila Balaga, the team of Emil Basil Scaria and Vaishnav Radhakrishnan and Sreedevi S R and Apoorva Janardhan were adjudged the winners. They briefly highlighted their theme e-posters. Dr Ashok Hegde, dean and Dr S Jayaram, medical superintendent felicitated the judges and gave away the prizes and certificates.

The programme was well anchored by Dr Chethana K and the overview of world breastfeeding week theme. BFNI activities were highlighted by Dr Maria N, faculty in community medicine.

There were also health awareness activities at A J field practice areas namely rural at Panemangalore and urban at Kavoor and Shaktinagar.
