Puttur, Aug 31: As part of the introduction of social work concepts, core skills, contemporary practice methods to MSW students, the post graduate department of social work at St Philomena College, here organized a 2 day orientation visit for the first year MSW students. The students visited various voluntary organizations and care centers at Mangaluru and Belthangady taluk on August 26 and 27.

The orientation visit to various social welfare institutions provided the budding professionals in social work an opportunity to observe, discover and deepen their awareness about social work by understanding the nature, structure and functions of various voluntary organizations. It provided for them an outline, understanding and inspiration to embark on their future fieldwork practicum course as well as enabled them to imbibe professional expertise.

The students visited Ave Maria Palliative Care Centre, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru; SDM Mangalajyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor; Link De-addiction Centre, Mangaluru; Seon Ashram, Belthangady; SIRI Gramodhyoga Samsthe and RUDSETTI, Ujire during their visit. The faculty members of the department guided the students and accompanied them to the places they visited.
