Puttur: Hotel worker consumes poison, commits suicide

Puttur, Aug 31: A person working for a hotel located at Bolwar here killed himself by consuming poison on Tuesday August 30. He had been going through depression after getting involved with a road accident a month back and injuring himself, it is learnt.

The victim has been identified as Lingappa Gowda (35), resident of Parakaje in Mogru village, Beltangady. He was working for a hotel based in Bolwar here for some time.

Lingappa had tried to end his life by consuming poison on the terrace of the hotel building where he worked, on Sunday August 28. He was writhing in pain after consuming poison and the hotel employees who saw him had got him admitted into the hospital in Puttur. Lingappa, who was in a critical condition, did not respond to treatment. Therefore, he was taken to Mangaluru and admitted into a private hospital there. However, he did not show improvement in his health condition there either.

Lingappa was walking by the side of the road a month back, when he was injured after a vehicle hit him. His injuries had made him bedridden for some days. It is said that this incident had shaken him and he remained depressed since then. It is guessed that he ended his life because of this depression.
