UAE: USWAS Elects Canute Mathias as President

Dubai, Dec 10: Canute Mathias, an active Shirva Parishioner, residing in Sharjah, elected as the president of USWAS (U.A.E’s St. Mary’s Welfare Association, Shirva) a group of Shirva Parishioners residing in the U.A.E. Canute Mathias was the Entertainment Secretary of USWAS committee during the previous two years. He is well Known for his alround performance in entertainment field as a Musician, a Singer and as a DJ. He is the proprietor of ‘CLEMENTS’ sounds and a Heavy Equipment Spare Parts Co. in Sharjah. Another active member of USWAS, Mr. Vincent Corda elected as the Vice President. USWAS came into existence at the end of December, 2002 and has successfully completed 5 years.

In a recently held meeting at a Hotel in Dubai, the committee members of USWAS were gathered to elect the new managing committee for the year 2008. Earlier the expansion of the committee had taken place at a previously held meeting.

The meeting started at 8.00 pm  with the prayer from senior member of USWAS Paul Menezes. President Ivan Mathis welcomed all the committee members. After the  election the outgoing Office Bearers thanked all the committee members and the  members of USWAS for their cooperation and requested all to work together for better unity and to strengthen the Association. Newly elected president Canute Mathias also requested all the Committee members for their full cooperation and assured to do his level best for the unity and to continue the good work.

To celebrate its 5th years existence, USWAS (Shirva) will celebrate  “SHIRVA UTSAV-2008” in the year 2008 during March-April. It is an annual event of the association and will be open to all. More details will be followed soon.

Election for the new working committee was conducted later and the following office bearers were elected.
