Mangaluru, Sep 1: In a very shocking incident, a live mobile phone camera was found in a ladies toilet of Mangaluru university campus.

Though the incident was discovered on August 24, the matter was not given much prominence until it was discussed in the University Syndicate meeting on Wednesday, August 31.

A girl student, who came to the toilet on August 24, saw the camera and informed about it to the management. When they checked the mobile, it was found that the mobile camera had transmitted the images on even August 7 and 11.
The mobile phone had two clippings of 15 and 30 minutes duration in its database. Some said it was using local Wi-Fi to send images and videos.

It is not known when the camera was fixed there. Some said the mobile did not have the SIM but then it is not clear as to how it could transmit the images and videos. The Syndicate which discussed the matter has told its member K M Lokesh to investigate further.

The mobile was wrapped in a paper and inserted into the hole made in a plank in the toilet. The paper was painted blue so that it matched the colour of the plank. A power bank was used for the mobile, so that it could remain active for long.

Very cheap. But folks what we can do to safe ourself firstly don't even ignore even the smallest of the holes, anything unusal please suspect..... Secondly to safe ourself from spycameras is that take a call in the suspected place be it bathroom or changing room.. Usually electromagnetic field from the camera interferes with your call giving a click tick sound.. Thats your suspicion.. They are perverts, lets not give up.

AND WHO BOUGHT IT, AND WHO USED IT EVERYTHING COULD BE TRACKED OUT IF TAKEN INTEREST BY THE AUTHORITIES.BY NOW HOW MANY VIDEOS CIRCULATED WHO KNOWS? LADIES/GENTS, BEFORE GOING TO TOILET AND FOR CHANGING,MAKE SURE THERE IS NOTHING HIDDEN THINGS LIKE CAMERAS, IF YOU NOTICE A SMALL HOLE ON A TOILET WALL KINDLY BE INFORMED AND DONT REMOVE YOUR CLOTHES. IF SOMEONE UPLOADS YOUR VIDEOS IN YOUTUBE THEN FINISHED!! BE CAREFUL ALL THE TIME.IT IS ALSO SAFE IF YOU COVER YOUR FACE INSIDE THE TOILET. BCOZ YOU ARE NOT SURE WHERE THE CAMERA IS HIDING. A SMALL GAP IS ENOUGH TO CLICK A BIG PHOTO!!!BELIEVE ME OR NOT I DONT MIND

is it so tough to investigate the mobiles connected to this mobile. Give it as an assignment to the Computer science students, they will crack it with in no time. Don't make a big news out of it, just investigate, find the culprit and put him in ladies jail at the toilet room. they will know how to team him a lesson.

Crooked master mind. Isn't there security/CCTV in the campus? Looks like someone from the campus itself has collaborated to complete the job.
Very cheap mentality. There are so many other means to satisfy his desires. He must have had other intentions like blackmail for ransom. Unbelievable.
There is a popular saying that even the walls have ears and now it has proved that walls have secret eyes too. Technology advancement (Fiber Optic Camera, miniature Drones, spy camera, Cell phones)
Hopefully, police will be able to nab him in coming days.

    Mangalore is become smart city.

    Really a shameful act.

Why there is no CCTV outside & near Ladies toilets?

I think they can trace on which phone number WIFI is activated.

Finally how they get WIFI signal inside College premises?

What Administration is doing? Is it a recreation center?

This incident raises an alarm for an immediate need for stringent management directives in toilets. Not only ladies, but gents will be maligned by such images and videos.

Urge the MU management to deal with utmost care for the students. This incident will never erase the students nightmare for at least next few months.
