Mangaluru: St Aloysius Evening PU College celebrates golden jubilee

Mangaluru, Sep 1: St Aloysius Evening PU College celebrated its 50th year of existence this year. The inaugural of the golden jubilee was held on August 31 at the college auditorium.

More than 1500 invitees including the former principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, Jesuit fathers, Aloysian Institution heads and alumni participated in this ceremony.

The programme began with the welcome dance and a video presentation of the report. The coordinator of the golden jubilee celebrations Reena J Monteiro welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries joined in the lighting of the lamp to mark the inaugural of the golden jubilee celebrations.

Chief Whip, Karnataka Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza the chief guest applauded the contribution of Aloysians all round the world.

The president of the function, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions, Fr Dionysius Vaz motivated the students and said that more people of our society should take the benefit of getting educated in St Aloysius Evening PU College.

Principal Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ appreciated the hard work of the staff and cited the examples of the students who have fared very well despite the odds. Finance officer, Fr John Lang Bosco SJ and Dr Pradeep M were the other dignitaries present on the dais.

The audience were enthused with the cultural extravaganza put up by the students of the college.

    Such evening colleges should be started in large numbers in every taluk headquarters to enable youngsters to take up higher education under the Earn while you Learn mode.
