Mangaluru: MCC introduces 37 new vehicles for waste management in city

Mangaluru, Sep 2: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) mayor Harinath launched 37 new vehicles for the purpose of solid waste management in the city, in front of the MCC building at Lalbhag on Friday, September 2.

Speaking on the occasion Harinath said "The motive of all the corporators from all the parties is to improve our city. The company Antony Waste Management is co-operating with the MCC now. Since few days we have been receiving complaints that the waste management vehicles are not coming few areas. I urge the officials of the company to rectify these errors and co operate with MCC. We presently stand in the third prize for waste management in the country, but we aim to become the number one.”

MLA of Mangaluru North constituency Moideen Bawa speaking on the occasion said MCC which is a model for all the municipal corporations in the state should improve its waste management standards. "There are few complaints. But we have make better progress even though we are one of the best municipal corporations in the country," he said.

The president of the MCC standing committee for health Kavitha Sanil informed the present that the MCC will be dedicating one of the days in the week for the dry waste management and the wet waste will be collected every day. "Today Antony Waste Management Company has introduced 37 new vehicles including 7 compactor trucks. The company has fulfilled our request by introducing new vehicles. We need the support from all including the citizens of the city", she said.

Former mayor Lancelot Pinto, Shashidhar Hegde, deputy mayor Sumithra Kariya, leader of opposition in MCC Roopa Bangera and others were present at the occasion.

    Congratulations to MCC.
    MCC is moving in the Right Direction .However it is Citizens of the City has to Contribute by discipline in Hygiene, Cleanliness, keeping the City Clean without throwing waste,and politely advising, educating those who are polluting the environment.Change does not takes place overnight, it is slow revolution. Once Mangalore attains National Prominence as Cleanest City , it will recognized Globally too. To achieve this Citizens have to play BIG ROLE along with MCC and Cleaning Company etc. The Culture of Cleanliness has to develop within not to be imposed.
    Let us together make our CITY Cleanest in INDIA.

    Great! We all must support MCC.Avoid spitting pans,littering papers etc.Fruits and vegetable ,fish markets should be thoroughly inspected.
    Cleanliness begins from our home.Schools and colleges should also conduct workshop on wastage.Lastly love your city,then hygiene develops naturally.

    Give one truck to each Corporator...he/she should clean the ward...if waste is not picked...call your corporator...or dump it in front of their houses...

    Trust me Mangalore will be very clean...as clean as Singapore...

    Good luck Mangaloreans. Start cleaning from State Bank Hampankatta and end at all corners of the city.

    Special appeal of people of Mangaluru. Without your corporation in managing waste management, any efforts made to make our city clean will go in vein. Cleanliness must start from our home and our backyard. People please co-ordinate.
