Mangaluru, Sep 2: “Team Mangalore for the 7th time will be participating in the 19th International kite festival which will be held at Dieppe beach in France from September 10 to 18, 2016,” said Savesh Rao, founder of Team Mangalore.

He was addressing the press meet at Orchid Gallery here on Friday September 2.

“Artiste Dinesh Holla and Sathish Rao from Team Mangalore will be participating in this event with team's creative kite ‘Dhamapathi’. The kite is an appliqué delta kite which is 18-feet high and 16-feet wide. We also have kites such as ‘Adhivasi’ an-8-feet high and 5-feet wide, Surya and Deepa which will be used during the international festival,” he said.

“Dinesh Holla has aesthetically designed a publicity poster for the International Kite Festival 2016. He has been invited by the general organizer Dieppe Capital of kites Sandrine Frebourg to exhibit 36 framed-line art works entitled ‘Raga Rekha’. Holla will be demonstrating the essence of tribal art form travelling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and West to East tribes of India.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Holla said, “As part of Tulu culture, a ‘Paddy Tuppe’ will be handed over to Mayor of Dieppe.”

“I was inspired by the tribal dance of the Soligas from Biliranganabetta. This inspiration has also come into my paintings. Hence a part of what I earn from the paintings which will be sold at the Kite Festival will be used for the education of the tribal students.”

Speaking about the ongoing protest about Yettinahole project, he said, “We will hold a signature campaign to save the Western Ghats. We will collect signatures from 48 countries and submit it to UNESCO through Mayor.”

“The present Yettinahole project at Hongadahahalla is not too far away from Pushpagiri which has been declared as a world heritage centre by UNESCO and this project will also affect the Western Ghats,” he added.

Sathish Rao and others were present during the press meet.
