Mangaluru: Friction over dumping mud - Constable's hand bitten

Mangaluru, Sep 4: A complaint stands filed in Kavoor police station by a constable of Urwa police station here on Saturday September 3.

It is learnt that soil dug elsewhere was being dumped in vacant spot by the roadside at Bangrakulur here. Some locals had opposed the dumping, saying that their path will get restricted by this act.

A people's representative had complained about this to Urwa police station. Policemen went to the spot. Locals, Arun and Kiran, who questioned the presence of Urwa police at a spot falling under Kavoor station, began to record the proceedings in cellphone.

A police constable, Lokesh, questioned about video recording of the happenings, and tried to take away the cell phone. But the two named above bit the hand of the constable, snatched away the phone, and ran away, it has been complained.

The police have registered a case and begun investigation.
