Mangaluru, Sep 4:"People of undivided Dakshina Kannada district are brave and courageous and they never supported violence. When we contemplate on recent incidents in the society, they are bothering us. Some forces are making efforts to tarnish the reputation of this district. These forces are creating hatred and jealousy in the district which is known for communal harmony,” said AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad.
Hariprasad was addressing media persons at district Congress office here on Sunday. September 4.
“All should go against these forces to restore the culture and tradition of this district. Especially the Congress party workers should work on this. Wherever we go, Mangaluru is treated with special honour. 240 districts are affected with naxalism and 90 districts are affected with communal hatred in the country. This should stop," he added.
“Our independence struggle will be incomplete till peace is restored in Kashmir. Those forces which play politics in the name of religion, caste, language are trying to create confusion in this nation. Their main intention is making political gains," he said.
Ramya egg hurling incident
On the incident of hurling eggs at Ramya, without taking her name, he said “When a girl visited Mangaluru, in the land of Abbakka, eggs and chappals were thrown at her. Those who plotted and those who took part in this incident are cowards. These works are done by the pseudo nationalists in the name of nation and nationalism,”
Comes down heavily on Sangh Parivar
“There is no connection between Jana Sangha and Indian Independence. These pseudo nationalists who wear Khaki shorts, black caps and hols sticks were with British and they were against the Independence. Congress party need not learn patriotism from these people. People like Mahatma Gandhi, Indira and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country. There is not even a single person from Hindu Mahasabha or RSS who can claim that he took part in the Indian freedom struggle. People should be conscious about pseudo nationalists. Congress party workers sacrificed for the party. Hence congress party workers should organize the party," Hariprasad said continuing his onslaught on Sangh Parivar which he had made in Udupi a day earlier. .
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that 'Congress from past 70 years has done nothing to the country', Hariprasad said “But Congress party in 70 years never allowed country to break. It worked for unity."
Pakistan issue
Answering the media questions, he asked former state BJP chief Prahlad Joshi to ‘send LK Advani, who praised Mohammed Ali Jinnah as a secular leader, to Pakistan.’
Hariprasad also asked why Narendra Modi visited Pakistan.
Cow protection
Commenting on cow vigilantes he said “These cow vigilantes involve in decoity during night time do cow protection during day and some of them are cow eaters also. If they have love for animals, then they stop all animal slaughtering".
Being reminded about Modi's observation on cow vigilantes and asked about what action should be taken against them, he said "These plotters of crime should be booked under National Security Act (NSA).”
On Kaveri water dispute, he said that it should be solved through a dialogue.
