Mangaluru, Sep 6: There were celebrations and jubilations on Monday September 5, in the first Church of diocese dedicated to Mother Theresa, in Paldane, on her canonization as a Saint.

Novenas were held in the church for nine days in anticipation of the great event. Bishop of Mangaluru, Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza celebrated the holy mass. Priests from the neighbouring parishes, nuns and all the faithful in the church partook in the Eucharistic celebration and offered prayers.

The Bishop felicitated Rev Fr G W Vas, who had established the church ten years ago. Responding to the honour, Fr Vas thanked those who worked for the all-round development of the church. The Bishop was honoured with a letter of felicitation.

Church parish priest Fr Vincent Victor Menezes thanked all who helped to hold the programme. The programme concluded with a meal for all, in the presence of Vice president of Parish Pastoral council, William Lobo, and secretary, Veena Lobo.
