Madikeri, Sep 7: Wild elephant attacks continue to play havoc with the lives of the people of Kodagu district. On Tuesday September 6, motor bike rider, Arul Joseph (39), became a victim of a wild elephant attack.

Joseph, who hailed from Chattalli Kanangadu village, and who was an estate worker, was travelling on his motor bike close to the coffee plantations in Voddarakadu village near Polibetta when he was suddenly confronted by a wild elephant. He died on the spot and his motor bike got smashed in this incident.

Local workers and people's representatives have once again vented their anger at the lackadaisical functioning of the forest department and its failure to contain the menace.
