Mangaluru, Sep 8: In an incident which happened at Betkeri in Prantya village near here, a gang attacked a woman and her son. It is said that the attack was in connection with some financial dispute.

It is said that a person named Mustafa called Muhammed Illyas on Sunday Septemnber 4 night when the latter was at his home, over his cellphone, asking him to come out of his home for certain discussions. When Illyas came out, the accused reportedly kicked him, and assaulted him after dumping him inside a car.

When Bifatima, mother of Illyas, tried to block the attack, she was also beaten up. Her husband, Muhammed Ismail, was reportedly threatened. Both the injured mother-son duo got admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru and obtained treatment.

Police from the station here have registered a case against accused, Mansur, Mustafa and four others from Kodangallu. Investigation has been undertaken.
