The holy bible which we have in our hands doesn’t say anything about the birth of Mother Mary and her parents. However the genealogy of Mary was a direct descendant of King David which gave Jesus the right to ascend the Jewish throne, both through Mary and through adoption by his foster father Joseph. Mary's genealogy is supplied in Luke 3:23-38.
Mary was righteous from her birth because GOD CHOSE MARY IN THE BEGINNING REF: GENESIS 3:15 SAYS: AND HER SEED (her refers to Mary and her seed is Jesus).

The parents of Mother Mary is found from the outer sources were Ann and Joachim found in the Proto-Gospel (or Proto-Evangelion) of James. This source is from the first century not prior to that.

    Shankar,

You are right. It's a vegetarian feast with 7, 9 or 11 (why odd nos. I do not know) types of vegetables on dining table.
Old customs in some houses slowly disappearing. These days people like to have mixed food I mean meat also added in some households. Then you know as usual!

    Shankar Anna,

You are on the dot, well compiled list. Thank you for reminding some of the traditional dishes.

Best part of family tradition is few seeds of blessed new rice is mixed in a milk (called Nove in Konkani) and distributed by eldest person to all family members and attending relatives. I have some pictures in my family distributing Nove to all before the lunch is served.

Also, blessed rice is sent to family members all over the world by post.

Let us share the joy and spirits of Feast of Nativity (Monti Fest).

I could recollect my childhood days of collecting flowers, (sometimes from others compound) and attending Novenas and enjoying the ceremonies. Throwing flowers above and sometimes against others who are in front (childhood days). Most enjoyment is to come from collecting Sugar cane!
    God bless all.
