Mangaluru: Schools to remain closed in DK, Udupi districts on Sep 9

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Sep 8: In the wake of bandh call given by various pro-Kannada organisations in the state, schools and colleges remain closed in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Friday, September 9.

The administrations in both the districts have made separate announcements in this regard. Communications from deputy commissioner Dr Jagadish from Mangaluru and his counterpart Venkatesh from Udupi say that schools and colleges will remain closed in the twin districts.

Other organisations especially bus owners or labour unions have not said anything about their stance for tomorrow. But pro-Kannada organisations are supporting the bandh. During the last bandh, while the buses and other vehicles remained off the roads, officially schools remained open with least attendance.

The Friday bandh is observed throughout the state opposing the Supreme Court verdict which ordered 15000 cusecs of Cauvery water to be released to Tamil Nadu.

Bangalore is so called 'developing day by day' more outwards yet fails to recognize there is a complete infrastructure collapse and the corrupt politicians in the state don't mind as long as their pockets are filled (including Tulunadu politicians) .Yettinahole/Nethravathi water lifting is a sham because it won't reach Kolar. It is not a trial situation to destroy natural coast and Western Ghats.Water flows from down not the other way. It will reach Bengaluru and its industrialists .So in order to provide one city they will destroy many more smaller towns and cities and their water resources.People in rest of Karnataka now feel the heat because Kaveri water went to tamil nadu whereas they shut their eyes to Madikeri peoples' problems when it was used for Bengaluru.Land grabbing is recurring phenomenon in Bengaluru.Already so many buildings have come up in small city of Kudla with meagre population of 6-7 lakhs, which is not even proportional to current populace and not even 30% of population of outskirts suburbs of west/east and satellite towns of Mumbai .Who will provide water to the new residents. How can we provide electricity and water to the new residents of Kudla if it is to be diverted. The corrupt nexus of politicians-bureaucrats-are just eying the Rs.13,000 crore and challenging us to not prevent the implementation to make us helplessly watch destroy our home

Maximum revenue from us but we get peanut from government to our welfare. Hi fi factory for them, pollution factory for us, why?. MCF , Mrpl , power project, etc, are too much to bare.

There is difference between our Yettinahole protest and Cauvery / Mahadayi. Yettinahole is dispute between districts whereas Cauvery / Mahadayi are dispute between States. Just like our India's dispute with China and Pakistan where eventhough Karnataka has no border dispute with Pak and China but we still being Indian support/fight directly or indirectly. In the same way we being in Karnataka should support directly or indirectly when our State has problems from another State. We are not dependent on Cauvery water hence it will not effect us directly. But indirectly it will effect whole Karnataka bcoz when there is shortage of water for agriculturist dependent on Cauvery and Mahadayi then production of food and necessary items will decrease and there will price increase which will whole Karnataka. So we (DK, Udupi dist) will also suffer indirectly eventhough we dont require cauvery water.

I am now sure this bandh is sponsored by Government. When people of these districts have already said that there is no bandh, government is forcing the same through DC's!. We didn't get support during Yettinahole but now government is behaving differently!. Government is not ready to leave water to TN but the same government is not thinking of DK and Udupi districts!. Do we require to be part of Karnataka or should we form separate Tulunadu!?.

tulu naadu is possible if there is full support for tulu naadu. kundapur, byndore and brahmavar speaking kannada will not agree. and also sullia because there the local language is arebhashe, puttur also has havyakannada.

Add to that konkani language and beary language throughout Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

With due respect to the DC, would like to ask a simple question why a Holiday? Why not work an hour more to make up for the bandh of last week? Saturday and Sunday off, festivals and bundhs off....why not sit at home all the time. As a nation if we don't have give and take between 2 states alas God save us. And when it comes to politicians it's all cosmetic display of crying foul when the other party is in power. Are these pro Kannada forums bigger than the honourable Supreme court?

pls read properly before shooting off.

this is d as holiday for schools, to save OUR children from any hardship / risk of violence.

DC has not said that pro-kannada organisations are bigger than SC, he is acting very wisely to protect innocent children from any untoward incident.

Supreme Court needs to investigate the water level and condition before passing decisions in a hurry. To ensure there is no injustice to both states.
